Our Story

After over 30 years of running a successful catering business in South Orange County, Nancy Thompson is passing the torch onto two up and coming chefs. Nancy would like to introduce Ty Kollenda and Taylor Taniguchi as the new owners of Something Special Catering.

Something Special Catering will still operate business just like Nancy! Nothing has changed...

Let us introduce the new owners:

Ty has always had a love for delicious food. He developed a love for cooking with the time he spent in the kitchen with his mother and grandmother as a child. Growing up he was always in the kitchen creating the best with what he had. Learning along every step of the way, Ty has picked up tricks and tools from the hundreds of years of experience he has trained under. From lead cook roles at Red Robin and Yard House he has now begun to use all his knowledge to begin catering for ALL OF THE GREAT PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!!

Taylor has always taken interest in cooking since a young age. Always helping out in the kitchen at home to make his family lunch or dinner. While attending college at Cal Poly Pomona, Taylor found his passion in hospitality and went on to receive a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. After years of experience working in both small and corporate restaurants, he has gained an expansive scope of skills. He now looks to use his knowledge to carry on the business and cater to those looking for that personal touch to their event.

We handle all of your event needs including food, decorations, and bar service - we can even help you find the right rentals, DJ's, floral services, wedding consultants, cakes/pastries - whatever your party needs, we can do it.
